Our love for Asturias and why we know you will love it too!
Our connection to this magical land began 17 years ago during a visit to friends in Oviedo, Asturias' vibrant capital. From that first trip, we knew this would be the place we’d one day retire. However, a visit to Llanes on a subsequent trip made it clear that we couldn’t wait any longer—Asturias had captured our hearts entirely.
Asturias, along with neighboring Cantabria, Euskadi (Basque Country), and Galicia, is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and incredible cuisine. This region of “Green Spain” (la España Verde) offers a temperate climate, thanks to the majestic Picos de Europa, which shield it from extreme weather. Summers bring the occasional heat wave, while winters are mild with the rare cold spell.
In this verdant paradise, you can enjoy outdoor sports of every kind, explore ancient gastronomic and cultural traditions, and wander through medieval towns and charming fishing villages. Best of all, Asturias offers a true escape from the tourist crowds. Here, life is simple and joyful—a luxury in today’s fast-paced world.
Imagine strolling into a beautiful seaside town and hearing only the local language, immersing yourself in the authentic rhythms of life. It’s this rare combination of natural splendor, culture, and tranquility that drew us here—and we’re thrilled to share this special place with you.
You can travel from fishing village to fishing village traversing the entire Costa Verde. Beginning in the Basque country and traveling through Cantabria, Asturias & into Galicia you have the mighty Atlantic crashing on empty beaches on one side, and the lush, wild peaks of the Picos mountain range on the other, enchanting!
Maritime traditions are still flourishing today. Gijon, Ribadesella, LLanes, and Navia are just a few of the mesmerizing seaside towns to not only fall in love with, but to enjoy the bounty of the sea. The fish, mollusks and shellfish are world-famous, yet they are sustainably harvested.
